Private Care is also known as custodial or senior care but Private Duty at Elements of Elder Care is not the same. We are not a primary caregivers (ex: getting your loved one out of bed every day etc.), we are supplemental to whatever else you have in place. Depending on where your loved one is at, we will come to you whether that be in-home, group homes, or assisted living facilities. Our Certified Nursing Assistants are overseen by a Registered Nurse, versus Licensed Caregivers.
Private Care typically includes help with moving around the house, feeding, bathing, dressing, and other activities that someone may struggle with in their home. We don’t offer that… with us, we don’t offer this as a daily service but if you are in a pinch and need help with this, we can step in to help. We cater to a more independent population – they can still shower themselves, but we can be there to make sure they don’t fall. We don’t do driving errands but if your loved one orders from a grocery app, we can help put the groceries away. If you are an out-of-state POAs (power of attorney), or child of an aging adult and want us to check on your mom or dad, or help them to Facetime you one day a week – WE HAVE YOU COVERED!
Here at Elements of Elder Care our Private Duty services are based around companionship. When a spouse may have passed away, we come and spend time with your loved one. This can include coloring books, baking, puzzles, watching old westerns, walking around the block, and changing linens. This service is for those who want friendship but can’t drive anymore. We come to your loved ones wherever they may be, to provide them with ease and companionship.
Most agencies in the Valley have a 5 hour minimum per day. This is where Elements of Elder Care also differs from your typical Private Care. Our Private Duty services include Monday through Friday – 1 to 2 hours per day max. We also don’t do weekends or overnights. If your loved one needs more care than this, we can still supplement any other care plans you have set in place. This may be the perfect amount of companionship and care that your loved one needs at this stage in their life. Reach out to us today so we can work around a plan that is perfect for you and your family.
Private Care vs Private Duty. We are medical caregivers vs Private Care is non-medical caregivers. Private Care services include someone coming into the home to help you or your loved one with daily living tasks and activities that they cannot perform on their own. Private Duty givers also may help with general house upkeep as well. Some of these tasks may include caring for household pets (on a case by case basis), taking trash cans to the road, watering plants, managing a patient’s medication schedule, and light house cleaning.
It is not the same as home health care. Home health care is when there is a medical care professional that comes to the home. For home health care, the caregiver must have a license to give skilled care. Registered nurses and physical therapists are considered home health caregivers.
Step 2: Once eligible, patients then need to see what method of payment will be used. This is private pay not covered through insurance. We have convenient options to pay online. For a Certified Nursing Assistants, it is $28/hour. If you need a Registered Nurse for medication management (pill box organizers), it is $25/visit. Contact one of our Care Navigators for more information.
